Secondary Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE)

The broad aim of PSHE is to provide a route to develop the moral, cultural and social skills of each student. Through this programme students will develop the skills to become active citizens in both their local and the global community. The personal development of students in this way plays a significant part in their ability to become effective learners and will raise attainment for all students.

Each student follows a curriculum that approaches PSHE from a global perspective. The curriculum has been designed specifically for students studying at GIS. Every student is provided with a PSHE workbook where they are able to assess their own progress against key learning objectives as they move through the course. Lessons are taught to students by their Form Tutors using the latest software and interactive methods. Students are also provided with a weekly point for discussion based on a current global event to increase their international awareness.

Students at GIS find PSHE a positive experience and understand how it will enable them to become responsible and successful citizens in the global community.
