Welcome to the CCA section of the new GIS website, on these pages you will find out the following information:

Introduction to CCAs

We hope you enjoyed using the CCA website and thanks to your feedback the site is easier and more accessible for all.

If your child gained a place in a paid CCA you had Tuesday 9th December to Thursday 11th December to pay. If Ms. Devi did not receive payment during this period however, your child will have lost their place in their paid CCA. If your child does not gain a place in their chosen paid CCA, you can, if you wish, approach the CCA Department after this period to ask if any payments have not been received or any children have decided not to join the CCA.

Lists have been posted on the CCA notice board indicating any CCAs that are not full. If your child has been unsuccessful in gaining a place in one or more of their chosen CCAs, you may add their name to any CCA list which is not full on the CCA notice board (if it is a paid CCA however, you need to check with the CCA Department). Once CCAs have started on the 12th January children will have to gain permission from the CCA Office, teachers are under strict instruction not to accept students that are NOT on their registers.

For all Dragons teams or CCAs that are indicated as being “selective/ trials”, this means that your child will have to attend a trial or will be selected to join this team. Please see the individual coaches for details.

Please remember that students should be prepared and wear correct attire for their chosen CCAs. So for example, if they are participating in a recreational sport, they must wear their PE kit, bring plenty of water and wear a hat and sun cream if necessary.

Guidance for student conduct during CCAs

At Garden International School good standards of behaviour and personal discipline are essential during CCAs.

CCA

  • Arrive at all your CCAs on time with all the necessary equipment
  • Work co-operatively with all students in your group and other members of the school community.
  • Treat all instructors and outside providers as you would a teacher.
  • Do not use foul language
  • Any students in school not participating in an CCA should go to their respective libraries

Relationships

  • Treat each other and all members of the school community with respect and consideration.
  • Listen to each others points of view in order for every individual to have an opportunity to contribute.
  • Welcome new students to the school and try to make sure nobody is excluded.

Facilities

  • Consume all food and drink in the canteen area provided, not at the venue of the CCA.
  • Ask permission to use specialist equipment and return it after use.
  • Treat the environment appropriately, leaving it clean and tidy for others to use.
  • Store your bags and valuables in a safe place

Dress

  • Wear the appropriate clothes for the particular CCA.
  • For ease of movement around school and for safety reasons appropriate footwear should be worn at all times.

Consequences of poor behaviour

First incident – The outside provider will report the incident to the CCA office. They will then contact the parents, Tutor and the Head of Year of the student to inform them about the incident. They will speak to the student at this stage. The incident will be documented and filed.

Second incident – Again the events will be followed as above. The student will then be asked to visit the Head of Year or Assistant Principal for the relevant school (Primary or Secondary) and warned that if there are any future incidents they will be excluded from the particular CCA and possibly other CCAs. Parents will be contacted directly.

Third incident – The events will be reported as above and the child will be asked to leave that CCA for the rest of the term. Parents will be invited into school to discuss the situation with the CCA Coordinator and Head of Year.  Note: there will be no refund issued for paid activities in the event of a student being excluded from an CCA activity.

We would like your feedback to keep on improving CCAs.
