A Christmas Story

Once upon time there was a woman called Mary that didn’t believe in Christmas, since she had a pain on those days: his husband had run away from his home, leaving her and her only son (his name was John).

Mary decided that she didn’t want to celebrate Christmas not to rember the pain that she had.

For a lot of years John didn’t understand anything, because he was little and he didn’t know the meaning of Christmas, but when he started to go to the middle school he started to make questions to his mother.

She always answered that Christmas was only a normal day, but all the people believed that a man called Santa Claus came to give presents to all world’s children, but that was impossible.

John told his friends what his mother had said, and they started to say that all Christmas nights they found a present under the Christmas tree and that it was Santa Claus that brught them.

He started to think that Santa Claus didn’t bring presents to him, because he was a bad child. He was very unhappy and for a lot of time he didn’t have any relations with his friends.

Mary was very troubled because she couldn’t understand the unhappiness of her child.

The months continued to pass and the only person that she loved  (his son) was continuing to be unhappy, also because his friends didn’t help him to pass that bad situation; his family became broken and the beautiful relation that she had with his son became only a simple contact, John couldn’t talk of his problem with his mother, because she didn’t tell him the truth on Christmas and so, he thought, she could tell lies  also for other things.

The situation culminated the day before Christmas, when John asked his mum to do the Christmas tree and the crèche, since she answered angrily that she didnn’t want to do that forever not to remember her pain, John answered that he was sad to have a mother like her.

She started to cry and passed all the night in his room to think to the mistakes that she had done.

In the dead of night she went out of her room to go to the kitchen; she heard a noise, she was afraid and very slow went downstairs to see what there was in the living room.

She saw a man dressed in red that was going down the heart.

He was doing the Christmas three and the crèche and Mary was there in silence, she was looking at that very strange moment.

When the man finished, she went in the living a room and saw that there were also some presents, she understood that Santa Claus had come  there to make Mary’s family a happy family.

Mary was incredulous and John, that was sleeping, was coming down the stairs to see what was happening; he saw his mother near the tree and felt happiness because he could be like a normal guy, he had received a present from Santa Claus because he was a good guy.

John embraced his mother and she felt that the magic of the Christmas was pervading her.

From that year on John and Mary celebrated  Christmas, because it was a magic day, in which a family is united by a strong love.
