Christmas at the royal palace

Dear readers,

I want to tell you about an old medieval story that took place in a small kingdom ruled for a long time by a good king and a very intelligent queen.

The royal family was composed of three people: the parents and their daughter. Mary, the mother, wasn’t very young and she was as old as Fedrich, the father. She was tall, she had dark green eyes and long blond hair. The king had brown hair and brown eyes. He loved going out to shoot game but he spent a lot of time at the royal palace because he wanted to stay with his only daughter that he loved very much.

In the kingdom you could hear people who said that Claire, the princess, was so beautiful that every day many boys came to the royal palace for giving her their presents and proposing her to marry them. She was eighteen, she was tall and her hair were red. She had green eyes and a pallid skin, as white as the moon light or the snow which you could see on the top of the mountain where the royal palace was situated.

It was so big that all the servants lived there and, from Claire’s room, you could see the waves of the sea that collided violently with the face of the mountain. On the towers there were always soldiers who looked around for controlling the territory. All around the royal palace there were trees and many kinds of birds flew in the clear sky over it.

It was nearly Christmas and, like every year, at the royal palace they were organizing the great ball that would start the night of the 24th December, after the opening of the presents.

Claire hated this celebration because she thought that it was only for children, who longed to receive a lot of gifts. So, she spent this time in her room, like a common day.

Her parents sent all the invitations and they decided to give their daughter a white dress because they wanted to see Claire married with a prince who would come at the royal palace and who had to see her at Christmas night.

On the 24th December a lot of rich people arrived and the servants were decorating the castle for the night. Claire had to welcome all the guests. Then, they went suddenly in the ballroom, where they left their presents for the royal family and they could eat something and sat on the armchairs, waiting for midnight.

When Claire went to her room, she was amazed because on her bed there was a gift for her. The princess opened it and she found the dance dress with a small crown, that were decorated with pearls and diamonds. She wore them and she ran downstairs to thank her parents for the presents, so she understood that she started to like Christmas.

Claire decided to take part in dance and when people started making pairs, she had to dance with the prince who her parents had chosen for her: Anthony. He was tall and he had black hair with blue eyes. Suddenly they became friends and they fell in love.

Time passed quickly and when Anthony went back home, he told his cousin Tom about his love for Claire. Tom was envious of  Anthony, so he stayed awake all night because he didn’t want his cousin to be happy. He made a plan.

It was the 25th December and it was snowing. In the morning, when all the people at the castle were still sleeping, Tom got into Claire’s room and he kidnapped her. The girl couldn’t shout because Anthony’s cousin put his hand on her mouth, so she was imprisoned in a dark room of his castle. The princess was frightened and she only could hope that Anthony would know what had happened to her and that he would save her.

In the evening, the prince was going to the royal palace for seeing Claire again and speaking to her about their future, the wedding date... But when he arrived to Claire’s castle, he found all the servants, the queen and the king out of the door and he understood that something strange had happened. They told him that Claire had disappeared.

Anthony was furious because he knew that it was a plan of his treacherous cousin, so he ran suddenly to Tom’s castle for saving his darling. There, he drew his sword and he challenged the enemy. They fought for hours and, at the end, Tom fell down the mountain and drowned in the sea. Anthony took the key of the room where Claire was imprisoned and opened it, setting her free from that place.

Finally Claire and Anthony could organize the wedding so, they decided to get married the next month. From that day the princess is the gladdest girl in the world and now she loves Christmas because it represents the love which her husband felt and feels for her.

So, dear readers, I can finish the tale saying that the others, with their love, make us happy and thanks to them we can carry on hoping and dreaming, especially in a magic day like Christmas.
