A sad event
It was a cold winter night just a few days before Christmas
Eve. I remember that night I fell in bed exhausted! It had
been a really difficult day for me at school, I had to spend
many hours reading and late in the afternoon I had to go for
training! So I fell asleep!!!
After a couple of hours of deep sleep I woke up because I felt
thirsty!
I put my left leg on the ground, and I felt something
strange! For a couple of seconds I was trying to figure out
what was that I was feeling!
Oh, my God! I jumped on my bed, my leg was wet!
I had a good look at the ground. Our house was totally
flooded! I couldn’t believe what I was seeing! I got out of
my bed, slowly and silently, opened the door and moved to
the rest of the house. It was a disaster! The water covered
all the rooms of the house. I heard the water running from
the kitchen.
I opened my parents’ room door I went near to my mother and I
whispered in her ear: “mum, wake up”. I tried to explain her
very quickly and with words that did not make much sense
what had happened. She jumped out of bed in a panic,
terrified and looking around her. She then pushed my
father’s shoulder and said: “Wake up, we are in real
trouble!”
I will never forget that night! We all together moved the
furniture out we lifted the carpets from the rooms out in
the balcony. They were soaked wet. We all had a scoop in our
hands and for hours we tried to throw the water in our
bathroom.
Hopefully, the wires and all the electrical machines were
not damaged, and especially
my PC. Only some pieces of our furniture had to stay out to
dry.
Eventually the sun came out; it was early in the morning. We
were all exhausted. It was very tough for us after so many
hours of effort. Our legs were cold and our hands were in
pain. We fell in bed without being able to move any part of
our bodies or saying a single word. That day I woke up in
the afternoon. Of course neither I went to school nor my
parents went to work. It took one week and many hours of
work to settle everything as before! All of us we were
trying to find free time to help. I felt I was a useful
member of the family but I mainly felt my parents’
protection in such difficult moments. It is very important
for the members of a family to be so close not only in
happiness but also in difficult events.
It was the worst thing that ever happened to my family! I
wouldn’t like to live any similar event again. It was an
awful experience and I doubt if I ever forget it!
