The Girl Without A Family

Once upon a time there was a little girl, Matilda. She lived on the street in a box, because she was a streetchild. Matilda hadn’t got any family, so she wanted to find her real family and live with them. This story took place when Matilda was 7 years old.

It was a completely normal day. Matilda woke up and began to find some food in a dumpster. Then she went for a walk on the street and searched for her family. Everyday she tried to find her family, but without success. Matilda asked people on the street, if they were her family, but nobody was. Sometimes Matilda got some money from people, who walked on the street, but Matilda wanted a family – Not money. She had lived her whole life on the street, or at least as long as she could remember. The search for the family took place until it got dark and cold in the evening. Then Matilda walked back to her box for sleeping. The next morning a new day began as the other days.

Matilda knew other children on the street, but they had all brothers or sisters, so Matilda felt alone, very alone. She cried every night, before she fell asleep.

A day, when the sun rose, Matilda decided, that she would go out in the world to find her family. She walked and walked for many weeks. Matilda only stopped to rest, when she slept. All days she asked people, if they were her family, but nobody was. Matilda saw families everywhere. Schoolchildren on their way to school, friends talking on the street, small children and big children with parents. Everyone was happy, just Matilda was alone. One day Matilda realised, that the search wasn’t worth it, so she began to go back to the street, where she found all the street children, she knew. They decided to make one big family, where they helped each other with everything. They built a house, where they lived together. Their motto was “one for all, all for one”.

Matilda was very happy, because she had got a family – not her real family, but it doesn’t matter. Maybe some of the street children were Matilda’s real sisters or brothers.
