Application
Submit an application to the Admissions Department. Please refer
to Application Checklist
for details.
Assessment
Applicants are scheduled for an assessment
only after the application for admission is complete. All children
will be assessed in their appropriate year group (see Year
Group Placement). This includes children applying for
places in the EAL Programme.
The nature of the assessment varies for different year groups
and may require meeting a member of the academic staff. This
will also help ascertain whether a child requires support for
special needs or learning difficulties. As we may not have the
capability of meeting the needs of children with learning difficulties,
the School may have to deny admission. Other reasons an admission
is denied may include concerns about the child’s academic records
and/or behavioural display.
Children applying for a place into Year 7 to 11 sit for a written
test in English and Mathematics. This is conducted at the Admissions
Office and lasts approximately 3 to 4 hours. Other tests may
be scheduled if necessary.
Specific dates and time for assessment correspond
with the Year group and the term where admission is applied
for.
Malaysian Applicant
Garden International School will submit to the Ministry of Education
the completed Lampiran 1 and relevant documents only when a
place is available for the applicant. Acceptance to the school
is subject to written approval by the ministry. The response
from the Ministry of Education may take several weeks/months.
Admission & Registration
Where places are available, admission of students into Garden
International School is dependant on a satisfactory assessment.
An offer of admission to the school is also based on the belief
that a child will benefit from the curriculum offered and that
his/her admission will not have a detrimental effect upon the
education of existing students. It is possible a child is accepted
on conditional status. The conditions will be mentioned on the
Letter of Offer.
For Malaysians, parents will be notified upon receipt of an
approval letter from the Ministry of Education. The child will
be offered a place subject to availability. A place will not
be reserved for the child upon submission of the application
for admission.
The acceptance of the offer must be made prior to the child’s
commencement of school. The payment of the required fees constitutes
the acceptance of a place and therein CONFIRMS the place for
the child.
Where places are not available, applicants are placed on a waiting
list for admission. However, the School reserves the right to
assign priorities for admission or refuse admission for any
reason it deems fit.
