GIS teaches the English National Curriculum through Key Stages 1 to 4.

What ages are the students in GIS ?
We accept students from age 3 (Nursery Level) to age 18 (A-Levels).

Does the school provide Learning Support ?
The School has Learning Support Specialists who provide additional support for students with learning difficulties. The School is able to cater for a range of students with specific learning. All applicants are assessed to see if the school is able to effectively cater for their needs.

What were the previous IGCSE results of GIS students ?
GIS boasts of an excellent track record of success in its past IGCSE examinations. In recent years, the passing rate was up to 90% and an achievement of over 45% with Grades A* and A.

How does GIS fare compared to other international schools ?
Established since 1951, academically, we have some of the best results amongst the other British international schools in both Malaysia and South East Asia. Our Primary and Secondary results place us in the top 5% of U.K. schools.

We have our own Annual Sports Meet and participate in the KL International Schools Athletics Meet and FOBISSEA Sports Meet.

What nationality are the students in GIS ?
Our student population is made up of children from over 58 different countries. Opportunities are provided to acknowledge and celebrate the different culture and linguistic diversity within the multi-cultural society of our school.

Can students commence school at mid-term ?
Although students are encouraged to commence school at the beginning of each academic year, we do accept students joining us at any time during the school year provided the entry requirements are met.

How many students are there in each class ?
Depending on the level, we have a maximum capacity of 20 – 28 students per class.

What foreign languages are offered in GIS ?

Bahasa Malaysia and French from Year 3. Mandarin is introduced from Year 6 and Spanish from Year 7.

What is English as an Additional Language (EAL) ?
Our English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme is designed to enable students who have had little or no exposure to English Language to develop fluency and competence in English, so that they may be able to follow the English National Curriculum at Garden International School.

Is uniform compulsory for all students ?
Yes, except for Sixth Formers.

What type of food is available in the cafeterias ?
There is a wide selection catering to the international students of GIS. Items served are halal and pork free.

Does the school provide transport for students ?
Bus services operated by private owners cater to most areas within Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya.

Are Malaysians allowed to study in GIS ?
The admission of Malaysian students to International Schools is governed by the Ministry of Education. The conditions under which such permits are issued by the Ministry are limited to several specific criteria. Please contact the School’s Admission Office for further information.

Does GIS offer Boarding facilities ?
No.
