You will notice the newsletter this week is far smaller than usual. The
mid-term break causes these next two weeks to be shorter than normal, therefore we will be providing bulletin style
newsletters for these weeks. We will return to a full newsletter on the 26th October 2007.
I apologise to anyone who attempted to access the
newsletter through the website last week. We experienced some difficulties
converting it into a PDF file, these difficulties have been resolved and it has
now been posted.
Have a safe and restful mid-term break.

MS PELAT
& MS SHARMA’S TRIP TO THE BAKERY
Two weeks ago, Ms
Pelat and Ms Sharma took four Year 8 classes to the Bakery for an authentic
French meal. It was a great way to combine effective language learning with a
taste of French culture. The food was great and everyone was buzzing. The
children learnt a lot and had a great time. What made the occasion particularly
exciting and touching was the unexpected arrival of someone all the students
loved and miss. The following is a write-up by two students involved on the
trip.
On the 26th and 28th of September, we went to The Bakery in Sri Hartamas. The trips were conducted by Mme. Sharma and Mme.
Pelat. The Bakery is a French restaurant where we went to have lunch. We had to
order food in French and we were asked questions there by some French speakers.
All Year 8 students learning French went on this trip over the two days during
their French lesson. The food was marvelous and the service was great. The
group that went on Wednesday were happily surprised by
the presence of Mr. Davis who had come there to have lunch with his Mum, this
was a sheer coincidence. We had a great time with him and he was very glad to
see us there. He spoke in French to us.
The trip was not only fun but educational too. We
learnt to order food in French and we also had conversations with one another.
The food included “du boeuf”,
“du poulet ” and “des lasagnes”. We had a
plate of French cheese (du fromage)
and for dessert we had “de la mousse au chocolat”
which everybody loved. We had a great time and would love to go there again.
The owner of the bakery was very glad to have us and we hope that we get to go
on more trips like this. Special thanks to Mme Sharma and Mme Pelat for a great
time there. We thoroughly enjoyed it !
Bon appétit!

Many thanks to the two very hard-working and dedicated
teachers who organized the trip: Ms Pelat and Ms Sharma. More initiatives
like this one to come. Watch this space.
