PRIMARY SCHOOL

The Primary School is a large vibrant school with good facilities. All classrooms are equipped with interactive Smartboards, LCD projectors, and at least one networked computer. In addition teachers are able to utilise a school laptop both at home and in school.

In addition to the specialist facilities provided for ICT, Music and Art & Design, the Primary Learning Resource Centre is open daily and staffed by two full-time library assistants and an expatriate LRC manager. Shared facilities (with our Secondary School) include a large hall/theatre, gymnasium, sports hall, swimming pool, playing field, under cover courts and other sporting facilities.

Teachers new to the school are often amazed at the high levels of motivation and responsiveness of our students. A high level of mutual respect exists between students and teachers. The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) was introduced in Years 1–4 this year and will be extended to the Early Years Department and to Years 5-6 in September 2008. Whilst previous experience of the IPC would be an advantage, applications from teachers willing to embrace a cross-curricular/thematic teaching programme are invited. For more information about the IPC visit their website: (www.internationalprimarycurriculum.com)

SECONDARY SCHOOL

The secondary school consists of approximately 950 students of over 50 different nationalities. For students aged 11 to 14 (Year 7 to 9), the school follows an international curriculum based on the UK National Curriculum. IGCSE examinations are taken at the end of Year 11 and A2 + AS Level examinations in the Sixth Form. Most of our subjects use the Cambridge International Exam Board. Examination results are excellent. In 2007, 5 GIS students gained Top in the World awards from CIE and 21 awards for Best in Malaysia. It is the policy of the school to balance high academic expectations with an extensive co-curricular programme and a concern for the personal and social development of our students.

Our students are highly motivated and keen to learn; are respectful and enthusiastic. The facilities for teaching and learning are being constantly upgraded with very good access to IT.

For all secondary posts, experience of teaching the UK National Curriculum at Key Stage 3, GCSE or IGCSE, and A level will be a considerable advantage but the main requirement is an enthusiasm for your subject and a commitment to developing a caring, productive learning environment.
