Principal’s Message

Welcome to Garden International School.

We are a diverse school community, with families from 60 different nationalities. Genuinely inclusive, we offer outstanding learning opportunities for students from a wide range of academic backgrounds and with a wide range of abilities. At the same time, we consistently achieve some of the finest academic results in the country and our students achieve value-added results that reflect outstanding progress.

A Whole-School Learning Community

These successes are a real testament to our outstanding teaching faculty, our commitment to ongoing professional learning, and to our whole-school learning culture. Indeed, at GIS we are all learners. As well as supporting our students to achieve success in all areas of school life, we offer our parents weekly workshops covering a wide range of topics and other exciting learning opportunities throughout each academic year. In addition, our professional development programme for teachers, which runs weekly, is one of the most comprehensive in Malaysia.

Academic Care

At GIS, we believe in the concept of academic care: the notion that children can’t flourish academically unless they are happy, supported and well cared for. This holistic approach, in which success is more than just about good grades, defines what we do. I am incredibly proud of the high level of pastoral care that we offer all of our students, care that is coupled with outstanding teaching and academic mentoring and ensures every child has the opportunity to reach their potential.

Beyond the classroom

Our extensive CCA programme – one of the largest in the region – also ensures that every GIS student has opportunities to flourish outside of the classroom, too. Whether through sports, music, the creative and performing arts or any other hobby, our students have every opportunity to get involved and excel in their chosen fields.

We are also a school that is committed to our local and global community. We believe we have a responsibility to help those less privileged through genuine, sustainable service opportunities. Through camps, service-based CCAs and student-led action projects in both Primary and Secondary, as well as regular school charity events, our GIS community strives to make a difference to those in need.

Kind regards,
Rob Stitch
