Vanessa Lee has been appointed as the head student for the academic year 2017/18.
As a head student as well as a student leader in the Positive Education strand, one of her main goals is to promote a culture of gratitude and empathy in the school.
Therefore, she has initiated a whole school project called “#iamthankfulfor“.
Below is her message to the GIS community:
“I am incredibly excited to announce the launching of Project #iamthankfulfor.
This whole school project will provide a glimpse into what the GIS community has to be grateful for.
From seemingly trivial things such as the avocado toast you had for breakfast, to matters such as health and family, each and every one of us has something to be thankful for.
I intend to capture these precious moments of gratitude and promote them using the hashtag.
In a world where gratitude, humility and kindness are lacking, it is even more important than ever to foster a culture of these traits in our school.
There is so much to be grateful for in our lives and it is important for us to acknowledge and express our thankfulness.
With the introduction of Project #iamthankfulfor, I hope to encourage the GIS community to recognise how fortunate and privileged we are.
So please do get involved in this project! Have a think about what you are thankful for and spread the joy.
Even better, I hope that reflecting on what we are thankful for can be turned into a habit, transforming these fleeting moments of gratitude to daily thoughts of appreciation.
Thank you.”
