Roles/positions in school: Director of Action strand, Head of Music for PA360, Scholarship Recipient
What is your happy space?
With my friends and family that bring me positive energy. I don’t think where you are defines your happy space, but rather who you are with.
What do you aspire to be when you grow up and why?
I aspire to be a doctor, as I want to directly help people and enrich their lives. I am very lucky to have the opportunities and privileges that I have today, and I want to use that to tangibly help others.
Tell us about your favourite activity/project at GIS.
My favourite project so far was probably this year’s Refugee Christmas Party, which was organised by the Action Strand. It was really amazing to see a record turnout of student and teacher volunteers, and spreading festive joy to over 200 children from refugee centres all across Malaysia. What is the best part of studying at GIS?
The unlimited support you are offered. From the incredible teachers who are always willing to give up their free time to help you out, to the school counsellors, to your year group; there has always been someone who I can turn to and ask for help.
As a director of strand, how do you see yourself leading your team?
I’m very lucky to have a strand full of hard-working and enthusiastic individuals who are very passionate about community service, so all I really need to do is make sure that everyone is on track and reaching their full potential. This year in the Action strand, we are really looking to develop the leadership skills of the younger Student Leaders in particular, as well as introducing new and exciting community service initiatives.
Share with us some of your proud achievements in life so far.
Getting my Grade 8 in piano, achieving straight A/A*s in my iGCSEs, being a GIS scholarship recipient and being chosen as director for the Action strand.
