GIS Stories - Student Karim - 2017

For Karim, GIS Year 13, 2017 cohort, the three words to describe GIS are “Togetherness, Strength, Happiness”.
Karim will be going to University College London (UCL) after completion of his A-Level at GIS.
Check out the video below to find out more about how Garden International School brings out the best in him and what “We Are GIS” means to him.

“My name is Karim Swift. I’ve been in GIS for 13 years now so basically my entire schooling life. I’m planning to go to University College London in London. I’m trying to study biological sciences for my undergraduate course”.

What opportunities Garden International School has offered to bring out the best in you?
Well GIS has offered a lot of extracurricular activities for me so through support things like  writing for the perspective magazine. I’ve had a lot of opportunities to develop skills not just related to academics which I think has been really useful for me.
Share with us your proudest achievement in life so far.
In may seem quite like a small thing but my proudest moment for me was scoring a goal for the GIS dragons team and it was that moment of happiness I it’s just something I don’t think I could ever recreate it was just like pure bliss after I’d score that goal
Describe how Garden International School teachers have supported your learning.
GIS teachers they’re great academically but they’ve also helped me on a personal basis as well they’ve helped me become the person I am today and they’ve taught me a lot of skills that have made me grow as a person and mature.
What is your best part of studying in Garden International School?
I think the best part about studying a GIS is the sense of community so all the students and sort of teachers are just like this sort of relationship
that I haven’t really seen anywhere else that everyone is sort of together.
What three words would you use to describe the school?
Togetherness, strength and happiness I think would describe GIS very well.
What does “we are GIS” mean to you?
That probably means to me like I was saying earlier that we’re all together and I think that’s really true that GIS is sort of like a community GIS it’s not just the school everyone is sort of part of something together.
