Welcome back to all of our ‘Gardeners’!
We hope you enjoyed a wonderful and refreshing summer holiday. If you’re new to GIS this year and this is your first time reading the school blog, then an extra warm welcome to you all (and a shiny gold star for reading the school blog!).
Whether you are a new face or a well-established member of our GIS community, the start of a new academic year is the perfect time to remind ourselves of a few key highlights from the year that’s past, and set new goals for the year ahead!
Highlights 2018-2019:
As well as working extremely hard in the classroom, our students also made the most of the incredible wider learning opportunities available to them: from our Year 6 camp in the Borneo jungle to reaching the top of Mount Nanhu, Taiwan on the Gold International Award! To awesome successes on the sportsfield and the wonderful productions of Hairspray and Alice in Wonderland – our students yet again impressed with their diligence, enthusiasm and great learner skills.
Saying goodbye to Mr Ford and hello to Mr Stitch:
The 2018-2019 academic year marked the final year for our Principal, Mr Mark Ford. Mr Ford, who has now moved onto Dubai English College, made some fantastic contributions to GIS over his tenure and we wish him every happiness and success in his new role! At the same time, we’re extremely excited to welcome our new Principal, Mr Robert Stitch. A very experienced international school leader, we’re looking forward to seeing how GIS grows even greater (perhaps even greener?) under Mr Stitch’s leadership.
2018-2019 Yearbook
We hope you all enjoyed reading our GIS 2018-2019 Yearbook, which serves as a wonderful reminder of the incredibly rich learning opportunities that took place last year, and of our very special international school community. The ‘Find the Flag’ competition was a great success, too. If you’re a new member of our community and would like to see a copy of the Yearbook, you can have a read in the Primary and Secondary offices.
And to that end, we wish every member of our school community another exciting year of learning and growth.
Here’s to making 2019-2020 our best year yet!
