Welcome to Garden International School. We are proud of the holistically shaped programme we offer our students, bringing first-class teaching and learning, academic mentoring, pastoral care and wider learning opportunities and skill to all our students. Our students experience rich and authentic learning experiences to help cultivate innate talents and provide opportunities to pursue interests and passions, both inside and outside of the classroom, and strive for excellence; all in the spirit of respect, integrity, and well-being.

GIS Learning Journey

Garden International School is a through school, educating students from 3 to 18 years old. Enabling a seamless transition between key stages, our curriculum is carefully designed to enable students to build upon their blocks of learning each year within a nurturing environment where a genuine love for learning is cultivated.

Our whole school curriculum has been carefully designed with the end in mind, to ensure that our students are equipped with the knowledge, skills and understandings to be ‘future ready’ as they leave us ready to embark upon the next stage of their educational university.

Demography of Population

Malaysia’s population in 2021 is estimated at 32.7 million – consists of people of different races, religions and races. The largest group of Malaysians consist of three main races, namely the Malays, Chinese and Indians.

Malaysia is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and 7 hours ahead of United Kingdom (GMT+1)

Climate

The climate in Malaysia is pleasant all year round (29°C – 34°C) although there is a relatively high level of humidity. There is little difference in temperature throughout the year and there are no distinct seasons except for the wet season, which runs from October to January. Lightweight clothing is adequate throughout day and night unless you visit the surrounding hill resorts where it is cooler.

Currency & Banks

The national currency is the Ringgit Malaysia (RM). Malaysia has a large number of banks to choose from, both local and international. Some local banks include Maybank and CIMB, while other international banks are HSBC, Citibank, UOB, and Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia. Foreign currencies can be changed at banks or authorized money-changers throughout the country. Most major credit cards are accepted with Visa and MasterCard being the most common types.

Transportation

ransportation in Kuala Lumpur is diverse and efficient, offering an extensive network of buses, light rail commuter trains, and metered taxis. E-hailing services are also available with the most common GrabCar service being the choice of urban dwellers, you can also opt for self-driving by using car rental service apps such as SOCAR that charge at a very reasonable rate per hour. For those who like to travel, Kuala Lumpur acts as a gateway to destinations all over South East Asia and beyond. Being a base for Air Asia (modelled on Europe’s Ryanair) fares to many cities in the region are relatively inexpensive.

In Malaysia the power plugs and sockets are of type G. The standard voltage is 240 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.

Garden School was founded by Mrs Sally Watkins, the wife of Fire Brigade Chief. Lt. Col. F.F.C. Watkins, in the Lake Gardens of Kuala Lumpur.

Garden School combined its Kindergarten and Primary School and moved to 251 Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.
