At Garden International School, the annual Garden Party is more than a date on the calendar, it’s a living expression of who we are. Rooted in community, service, and shared purpose, this much-loved tradition brings our students, staff, and families together each year to raise funds, build meaningful connections, and create real impact beyond our school gates. It’s where compassion meets action and where giving back takes centre stage.
How It All Began
The Garden Party’s story started humbly as Mufti Day—a casual dress day where students and staff raised funds for charitable causes. What began as a simple act of generosity quickly grew in spirit and scale. Over the years, it evolved into the vibrant, all-school celebration we know today, reflecting our deepening commitment to community engagement and social responsibility. While the name and format have changed, the purpose has remained beautifully constant.
Why We Host the Garden Party
At its core, the Garden Party exists to support our five core community partners—organisations carefully selected for their integrity, impact, and alignment with our values. Funds raised through the event help sustain and expand their vital programmes, while also supporting a wider network of community initiatives and service-learning opportunities.
Just as importantly, the Garden Party connects our students and families directly to these causes. It transforms abstract ideas like “social responsibility” into lived experiences, showing the power of collective action and reminding us that meaningful change happens when people come together with intention.
Our Beneficiaries
This year, we were proud to support five outstanding organisations: Make-A-Wish Malaysia, GIS Street Feeding Initiative, Pads and Paws, Free Tree Society, and Dignity for Children Foundation. Each plays a crucial role in addressing pressing needs across education, sustainability, welfare, and community support—and our contributions will help them reach even more lives.
Every three to four years, we thoughtfully review our partnerships to reflect on impact, celebrate progress, and explore opportunities for growth. This process ensures our collaborations remain purposeful and aligned with our evolving vision—whether that means deepening existing relationships or forming new ones that resonate with our mission for positive change.
A Year to Remember
This year’s Garden Party was truly one for the books. Thanks to the collective energy and generosity of our community, we raised an impressive RM31,228. This achievement will directly support our partners’ work and strengthen future service-learning initiatives. It’s a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community pulls together—and it’s inspired us to aim even higher in the years ahead.
More Than Fundraising
While fundraising is central, the Garden Party is ultimately about togetherness. From colourful stalls and lively performances to student-led activities bursting with creativity, the day celebrates unity, joy, and shared purpose. It’s a moment to strengthen bonds within our school while extending care and support beyond it—proof that collaboration is our greatest strength.
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on this year’s success, we do so with deep gratitude and renewed determination. The Garden Party reminds us that celebration and service go hand in hand—and that even small actions, when multiplied by many, can lead to extraordinary outcomes. We look forward to continuing this cherished tradition, nurturing our partnerships, and setting new benchmarks for what we can achieve together.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed—whether through volunteering, donating, or simply showing up. Your involvement has made a meaningful difference. Together, we’re building a more compassionate and connected future.
With gratitude,
