We recognise that each child has a unique set of attributes and abilities. As GIS, we encourage them to be inquisitive, informed and independent individuals, who will be inspired to contribute to their community, become effective communicators with people from all cultures and walks of life, and develop the social and emotional skills to flourish in the inter-connected world of the 21st century. Every child’s success as an individual is at the heart of all we do.

TEACHING & LEARNING

Primary Curriculum

Focused on celebrating diversity, valuing uniqueness and supporting students to become the best version of themselves, the GIS primary curriculum is at the heart of our school’s purpose and core values.

At GIS we recognise that improving educational outcomes is the biggest way we can positively impact our students’ futures, and by developing students to be reflective, lifelong learners, they will learn the skills to be successful in a future which is yet to be determined. Thus, we aspire to have a curriculum that is ‘future proof’. This means preparing our young people for a rapidly changing world by providing a holistic and personalised curriculum which instills in them a global perspective.

Our curriculum reflects our motto, ‘We are GIS’, as we know that students learn best when they feel valued and supported. Social Emotional and Intercultural learning form the bedrock of the GIS curriculum so that we can ensure that every student, parent and staff member experience a strong sense of belonging and feel valued as a member of the vibrant GIS community.

key stage 1

Year 1 & 2 (Ages 5 to 7)

Our Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2) programme helps encourage a love of learning both within and outside the classroom. With a strong understanding that every child is different, we seek to ensure that our students are given ample opportunities to explore new knowledge and skills, enabling them to discover their strengths and passions.

key stage 2

Year 3 – 6 (Ages 7 – 11)

Our Key Stage 2 (Years 3 – 6) programme offers an innovative international British curriculum, which aim to ensure that solid foundations are laid for the future success of our children, whilst allowing them plenty of space to explore and develop their passions and interests.

Wider Learning

In addition to our ‘taught curriculum’, there is a broad range of wider learning opportunities available to our primary students. From Sports CCAs to Language Clubs, camps and trips to our Student Leadership Programme, every opportunity is taken to encourage new interests, develop passions and nurture talents.
