English as an Additional Language
Preparing Students for International School Success
GIS offers EAL support within the mainstream curriculum, helping students strengthen their English while progressing in their regular classes. For students who require more intensive language preparation, the Academic English Pathway (AEP) Programme supports learners aged 5 to 9 in developing strong English proficiency and academic readiness, preparing them for a confident transition into international education.
The Academic English Pathway (AEP) Programme at Garden International School provides a supportive learning environment where students can build their English language skills, confidence and academic foundations. Through structured language development and exposure to the GIS learning environment, students are better prepared to transition into mainstream international education, with opportunities to progress within the Taylor’s Schools network and other leading international schools.
AEP Programme Learning Experience
Designed for students developing their academic English, AEP Programme equips motivated learners with the language skills, confidence, and readiness required to thrive in international schooling and beyond.
Delivered through an intensive one year programme, students are immersed in an inquiry-based curriculum that includes Mathematics, Science, Humanities, and Physical Education. Alongside this, they systematically strengthen essential English skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, enabling them to fully participate, engage and excel across all subject areas.
In addition, a twice-weekly Homework Club, included in the programme fees and supervised by our AEP Programme teachers, provides ongoing academic support while helping students build resilience and confidence. On other days, students may choose from a wide range of Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) offered at GIS, opening the door to discovering new skills, interests and passions.
