Educate our students in becoming active citizens who contribute to their community both on a local and global level.
Community Service is at the heart of many of the whole-school events that Garden International School holds throughout the year. We make sure that we help the local communities in Kuala Lumpur through programmes such as our weekly Street Feeding programme and our Reach-Out teaching programme.
Every week, a group of student and staff volunteers drive to city centre and feed over 100 of our street friends. We also hold an annual ‘Street Store’ where we give our street friends a dignified shopping experience with donations from the GIS community. The Reach-Out teaching programme not only allows our students to get to know the local refugee communities by planning exciting and engaging educational lessons but it also allows our refugee friends the chance to develop their english and socialise with GIS students.
We also organise our annual charity fundraising event, Mufti Day which raises funds for us to support our four core charities throughout the year. Mufti Day opened its doors to GIS families and transformed the school into a fun-filled carnival for the day whilst raising money for partnered charities such as Street Feeding programme, Reach-Out teaching programme, Eco Knights and PAWS.
It is our aim to organise events with our charities to develop a sense of community within GIS and promote awareness amongst our students.
At GIS, we bring out the best in everyone, both inside and outside of the classroom through our unique learning culture where we pursue our passions and strive for excellence; all in the spirit of respect, integrity and well being. Speak with us today to start your learning journey with GIS.
