TEACHING & LEARNING
Early Years Curriculum
Our Early Years curriculum ensures a strong foundation for learning, with our youngest learners given ample opportunity to learn through play, whilst developing important literacy and numeracy skills to ensure that they are able to thrive in all areas of school life.
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Nursery and Reception (Age 3 – 5)
Our skilled practitioners support our youngest learners to develop in key areas like communication and language, gross and fine motor skills and mark making while also encouraging them to become independent learners who remain curious about the world around them. This is done by tapping into each child’s interests to keep them engaged and challenged as they discover and explore.
Learning Through Play
Drawing from extensive studies, our Early Years experts believe play-based learning is the most effective way to engage young children and prepare them for a lifetime of curiosity. Among the numerous benefits, play-based learning encourages brain development, increases emotional intelligence, boosts creativity and enhances communication skills.
Jungle School
An EYC education extends far beyond the classroom. With our regular Jungle School programmes, we encourage students to reconnect with nature and engage with the world around them. By literally bringing the blackboard outside, the children broaden their horizons and show sustained periods of concentration and creativity.

Mandarin Immersion
Our unique approach to learning Mandarin at our Early Years Centre puts fun first. We create an engaging and immersive environment for them to flourish through music, storytelling, art and interactive dialogue sessions. With this fun-filled approach, the children have proven to absorb new vocabulary and grammar like sponges.

Students & Parents
Our eldest son joined GIS five years ago, and our second son started last year. Being part of the GIS community has been a wonderful experience—not just for our children, but for us as parents as well. The school is vibrant, engaging, and welcoming. From the very first day, we felt a true sense of belonging. If you’re looking for the best for both your children and yourself, we wholeheartedly recommend GIS!
Ai Goto
CHANGE Founder & volunteer, GIS parent since 2020
I am very satisfied with not only the quality of education but also the emphasis the school places on ensuring children grow up to be good global citizens. My son is in Year 4 now and he enjoys going to school to learn, to play sports (a lot of it!), and partake in many extra-curricular activities. I can see he is becoming a more well-rounded individual thanks to the teachers and faculty members at GIS!
Amy Lee
GIS parent since 2024
Being part of GIS has been a positive experience for us. Isaac and Kyra have been in GIS since EYC. Isaac is now pursuing engineering at Cambridge, while Kyra explores architecture in Year 12.
Jean Ong
GIS teacher and parent since 2009
We have found the GIS community to be vibrant, welcoming and active – with plenty of parent workshops, events and opportunities. GIS has a well-deserved excellent reputation for academic achievement, while also offering a comprehensive co-curricular program.
Both our children have had amazing opportunities to travel and represent the school in international sporting tournaments hosted by AIMS, FOBISIA and SEASAC. Our family has really enjoyed being part of the GIS community over the past 7 years.
Jeanne Cerff
GIS parent since 2018
We’ve had a wonderful experience with GIS and it’s so rewarding to see how well our daughters are thriving in their careers in London. My confidence in GIS’s guidance speaks volumes – our son is in great hands as he prepares to follows their footsteps
GIS has provided a solid foundation and consistently nurtures excellence and this is reflected in my children’s achievements be it in academics, sports and mental wellbeing.
Jessica Sidhu
GIS parent since 2010
GIS sets you up for the future, and my wife and I consciously chose the school to provide our children with the same exposure and develop their independent and critical thinking skills.
Taranjeet Singh
GIS Alumni and parent since 2018
Our journey with GIS began in 2019 after moving from Sydney, Australia, and it has been such a welcoming place for our family. The teachers and staff are highly qualified and also incredibly warmhearted, making a big difference in our girl’s learning experience. Our kids had so many school activities to choose from and have truly enjoyed every moment.
As a parent, I’ve also felt so included, whether through parent workshops, volunteering, or just meeting other wonderful families. I never expected to make so many great friends, both for myself and my kids. GIS has given us a strong sense of belonging and made life in Malaysia so much easier. We’re truly grateful to be part of such a supportive and caring community.

GIS parent since 2019
I wouldn’t have gotten into Oxford or even applied, let alone gotten the scholarship, without GIS.
Chong Tze Wey, GIS Alumni, Class of 2024
Economics & Management at University of Oxford
GIS gave me a sense of belonging through sports, friends, and support from my teachers, encouraging a healthy mentality of academic excellence and well-being. Throughout my time here, I have been surrounded by inspiring teachers and students who push you to be the best you can be.
Aris Razlan, GIS Alumni, Class of 2023
Chemistry at Imperial College
It was through speaking with my teachers that I discovered my passion for economics, which led me to pursue my degree in economics, politics & history.
Soheil Singh , GIS Alumni, Class of 2022
Politics & Economics at UCL
As a Drama teacher, I had the joy of working with incredible colleagues and students, and the opportunity to step into leadership roles that shaped my career.
Jo Lee
Workshop Facilitator & Former Head of Drama (2006-2012)
GIS students are fully prepared to take risks and embrace opportunities to develop. Knowing that their voice will be listened to and actioned upon, our students have developed confidence in themselves and are ready to make rich contributions in school and the wider community.
Dr Michael Browning
Head of Sixth Form (2012-Present)
This school goes way beyond what would normally be expected for an education provider by supporting not only students on the move but also parents and staff in an exceptional manner.

Child development
Throughout their time in Early Years, our young learners have opportunities to develop the characteristics of effective learning through play. Careful planning encourages our learners to take risks, explore and imagine in order to deepen their understanding and to make links in their learning.
Wellbeing and Support
We have a strong support network within the school, to ensure that every child is able to thrive. Our EAL, Learning Support, Counselling and Medical teams are all on hand to ensure that each child has exactly what they need to be happy and successful during their time with us at EYC.
