Congratulations to our exceptional head student, Bryan Lim, who’s earned himself a spot at the prestigious Harvard College in Massachusetts! Bryan joins just a handful of talented Malaysians in the Harvard College class of 2028. It’s an incredible achievement considering the college received a whopping 54,008 applications, accepting only 3.59% of them. And Bryan’s part of the impressive 15.4% of international students admitted.
Since joining GIS in 2013, Bryan Lim has showcased a great passion for Mathematics and Computing. With achievements including being named the Top in the World for IGCSE Mathematics and the Top in Malaysia for IGCSE Computer Science, Bryan’s academic excellence is unmatched. His Gold in the Maclaurin Olympiad underscores his outstanding talent and dedication. Bryan will be pursuing his studies in Computer Science.

Bryan’s interests go well beyond academics; he finds joy in playing the piano, shooting hoops on the basketball court, and engaging in intense games of chess. “I was actually in the middle of a basketball tournament when I found out I got into Harvard. My hobbies in basketball, music, and chess have been essential for me,” he reflects. “To me, basketball isn’t just about the game; it’s also about connecting with others emotionally and learning life lessons like teamwork and discipline.”
Committed to making a positive impact on the world around him, Bryan demonstrated exceptional leadership last year by spearheading a successful fundraiser for Türkiye earthquake relief at our school, raising over RM15,000. The proceeds were then presented to Türkiye Ambassador Emir Salim Yüksel by our Garden International School Malaysia Head Student, Bryan Lim, during a ceremony attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Hannah Yeoh. This initiative not only raised vital funds but also brought our school community together in a meaningful way, highlighting Bryan’s ability to inspire and mobilise others for a greater cause.
